Recycle Your Political Yard Signs

At the conclusion of election season, voters are being encouraged to recycle rather than throw away their political campaign signs. A local government department is encouraging this practice.

Winter Park, Orange County Solid Waste Management and League of Women Voters have joined forces to collect election signs that will then be sent off to a company that recycles them into recycled plastic products.

PureCycle Technologies

PureCycle is the latest zero-revenue ESG-themed SPAC to come public, boasting of its revolutionary plastics recycling plan. Insiders and SPAC sponsors have all come together to secure $90 million in cash and tradable shares before the company ever generates any revenues of their own.

PureCycle announced during its third-quarter announcement that its high-pure recycled polypropylene production had been committed through multiyear offtake agreements, reflecting strong market interest for its Ironton and Augusta purification facilities, which have seen many offtake agreements signed with resin producers and converters.

PureCycle Technologies of Orlando, Florida announced last fall their plans to open a plastic waste prep facility in Winter Garden. This facility would sort and process No. 5 plastic waste that will later be converted to ultra-pure recycled PP resin at their plants in Ohio and Georgia. Over 50 NGOs from across the United States signed onto an open letter calling on PureCycle to abandon its plans for this Florida facility.

The League of Women Voters

After seeing an overwhelming surge of political campaign signs following the 2016 election, one DeLand League of Women Voters member began looking into ways they could be recycled. After research she came upon Orlando-based PureCycle Technologies; an organization which recycles polypropylene plastic used extensively in signs.

PureCycle uses an innovative proprietary process to remove contaminants and odors from plastic materials before recycling it into sustainable resin for new signs or food containers, carpet and auto parts repurposing. Furthermore, their aim is to keep plastic out of ocean gyres where it poses threats to marine life.

The League provides voter registration at community centers and living facilities as well as hosting candidate forums and public events to increase political accountability among its constituents. Furthermore, this nonpartisan organization promotes political responsibility through informed citizen participation.
